Sassy

While my sister was visiting, we made a trip to the Goodwill to see what treasures we could find. It can be so hit or miss but this time I did find a few fun things to bring home with me. One of them being this “sassy brassy” lamp. I have seen all kinds of lamp makeovers out in blogland that have inspired me and given me the itch to do one of my own like here and here.

So here is my lamp before:

Oreo Cake | Tasty Tuesday

Mar 22nd, 2011No Comments

It’s been quite some time since I have shared a recipe and this one is sooooooo yummy I just had to share!

A couple of years ago, my Aunt Andrea took some cake decorating classes and with that and the combination of  her obsession with her new toy, the Kitchen Aide stand mixer, she has been making some ridiculous confections. However, she “doesn’t care” for cakes so she makes them for sport and then brings them to family get togethers for us to all consume at our own guilt. She is basically an evil temptress of sweets! Lol. Evil, pure evil for someone like me who has no self control when it comes to sweets. (Can’t say I never inherited anything from my momma. Among other things.)

So here it is: Chocolate-covered Oreo cookie cake. Go ahead, drool a little. Its ok (I’m drooling too).

Kitchen Before & After

I will probably try and slowly post some before and after shots of rooms throughout the house as they are being “finished” (part of being a homeowner, you’re never truly done). So here is our breakfast nook/kitchen.

Here are the before pics:

This pretty much sums up our house and what it looked like the day we got the keys. Floral, floral EVERYWHERE! And wherever there was wallpaper, there were matching, I mean exactly matching curtains. I can’t imagine what that cost.

You can somewhat see it in this picture, but we have a mail slot. Can I just tell you how much that tickles me! At our old house we  had a PO box so to have our mail come to the house and not only to the house, but in the house is such a small pleasure. Its just another one of those charm features that I love about our house. I need to go and buy a cute little basket to go under the slot to catch our mail since it hits the floor and scatters all over. Anyhow, moving on. (more…)

Sisters, Sisters!

Last week my sister, Lindsay and newest little nephew, Zachary came up to stay with us for a few days. I went down to Florida back in December when Zachary was born and my Aunt Andrea got to meet him on a weekend trip down there in January but other than that, none of our family had met him yet.

It is always so great when my sister and I get to spend time together. The trips are starting to become farther and fewer between with having kids and raising prices on plane tickets so when we do get together, it is a jam packed couple of days. We  got to visit with family and some sweet friends, went and did some shopping, enjoyed late nights watching chick flicks and of course, lots of eating at our favorite places hehehe. It’s what we do and enjoy best :)

Thoughts Of Spring Blog Party Day 1

I am joining Lynnette and some other lovely bloggers over at her blog Dancing Barefoot on Weathered Ground for a “Thoughts of Spring Blog Party” this week. It’s my first blog party (truth be told up until a couple of weeks ago, I didn’t even know what a blog party is. Shhhh). If you would like to get in on the fun you can go to the link here and join in on the fun!

So, for those of you that are new to this humble little site that documents my stay at home mommy adventures, I started blogging back in June 2009 after much coaxing from my husband. You see, he is the “techy” one in our marriage and I thought the idea was C-A-RAZ-Y when he explained what a blog was to me. (I can be a bit old fashioned sometimes and take some warming up to new advances.) Who in the world would want to read about my mundane, average life as a mommy of a then 2 year old and 8 month old? However the idea of blogging became appealing to me as the idea of it being my grown up diary of sorts. And if others read it and found interest along the way, ok. (more…)
