Show Us Your Life | Kitchen
Well, I enjoyed SUYL so much last week that I decided to come back for round two. This week is another one of my favorite rooms in the house, the kitchen. I love spending time in the kitchen cooking meals for my family and our occasional guests.
The kitchen, as it is now, was our second redo since we moved in four and a half years ago. I nearly thought Jay was going to loose it when I told him that I wanted to paint the walls and cabinets again last spring, as well as replace the countertops, sink and put up a new backsplash. But he stuck with me and we are both really happy with how it turned out (at least I think we both are
). I am sure that some of you can relate, to the fact that when you are young and get a place of your own, you are so excited to put your touch on it and can’t wait to dig in but, well, sometimes it just does not turn out the way you had hoped. That was the case with this room for sure! I love everything about our kitchen now.
We also recently replaced the floors with laminate flooring that I found at Big Lots! Go figure! Now all that is left to do in this room is to paint the ceiling with the leftover paint from the dining room ceiling and replace the old, rickety ceiling fan and it will be complete (until something breaks or needs repaired. Knock on wood.) You may notice one other thing that is “missing”. We do not have a dishwasher. Well, I take that back. You are looking at her.
If I get nothing else off of my wish list for our next house, I WILL get my dishwasher and that will be a glorious day!
Please, snoop around.
Here is the view coming in from the dining room.

My chalkboard from where else but, you guessed it, IKEA. Usually it is just a catch all for wallets sunglasses, keys and loose change and the occasional scribbled note. However, I really love Kelly’s idea of writing scriptures on it to encourage myself and my family.
It may not be the largest, or grandest kitchen. In fact, it’s pretty simple and basic, but we love it!
