Just Like New
Well, I don’t know how the rest of you feel, but this week certainly did fly by for us! I have kept myself pretty busy with some little makeover/DIY projects that I wanted to get crossed off of my list before a few special people fly in on Sunday morning for a two week visit! (More on that later) It all started with some old metal porch chairs that were left with the house when we bought it and ended up turning into this whole makeover extravaganza. I’m telling you, when the creativity starts flowing, it’s so easy to get sucked in!
My mother-in-law bought this little gem a few years ago at a garage sale and I’ve always liked it but it has been in need of some serious lovin’. I finally decided to tackle the task so that I could place it in our front room for a place to drop keys and mail on by the front door.
So after two plus hours of sanding all the grooves and curves….
She’s brand new with a pretty coat (or 4) of white paint. Please don’t mind the HIDEOUS knotty pine paneling. Hopefully we will be parting ways with it soon. I’m in the process of trying to switch over my decorating style but had to make due with what I have for right now since we are in the process of trying to sell our house and are having an open house tomorrow. I used an extra valance that I had that are the same as what is hanging over the windows. I’m hoping to find some baskets to place in there for extra storage.
I think that I may have unleashed a beast. Quick! Somebody snatch the paintbrush out of my hand before I get too crazy! I think that I see some trips to garage sales, Goodwill and the local antique mall in my near future to see if I can dig up any more items that might be calling for my personal touch to be put on them.
Once I get finished with my back porch makeover (hopefully tomorrow) I will post some more pictures for your viewing pleasure and a fun little DIY outdoor lighting project.
Happy weekend friends!
