Recipe: Meaty Manicotti
Ingredients
- 14 manicotti shells
- 1 lb. bulk Italian sausage
- 3/4 lb. ground beef
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
- 3 oz. cream cheese, cubed
- 1/4 t. salt
- 4 c. meatless spaghetti sauce
- 1/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Cook manicotti shells according to package directions.
- Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook the sausage, beef and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain Remove from the heat. Cool for 10 minutes.
- Drain shells and rinse in cold water.
- Stir the mozzarella, cream cheese and salt into meat mixture.
- Spread 2 c. of the spaghetti sauce into a greased 9×13 baking dish.
- Stuff each shell with about a 1/4 cup meat mixture; arrange over sauce.
- Pour the remaining sauce over top and sprinkle with the Parmesan cheese.
- Cover; bake at 350 for 40 minutes.
- Uncover; bake 5-10 minutes more or until bubbly and heated through.
