It’s that time of year again!

It’s time for the holidays, and I love it! Ever since I was a little girl, this weekend is what I look forward to every year, setting up the Christmas tree. I will admit, I am one of “those people” that starts listening to my Christmas music in October because one month is just not enough. I love to decorate our home for the Christmas season and make it feel warm and inviting for our family and friends. The past couple of years I have put up two trees, but with having a busy little 13 month old, I decided to make it half of the battle on my part and not risk loosing my sanity with having to constantly tell Caroline “No, no, no. Don’t touch that.” Surprisingly enough, its been Joel that has been the issue when it comes to touching the tree. He thinks that all of my Hallmark ornaments are his personal toys. Maybe I should have gone with the “boring” red and gold tree that I usually do so that the matching ornaments are not as tempting for little fingers…. :)

Here is our family tree in our living room. Instead of doing a “Red and Gold Tree” and a separate “Hallmark Tree”, I took some decorations from both. I think that I may need to add some more to it….this picture makes it look pretty bare.

My sister, brothers and I always had our own little tree in our bedrooms when we were younger, so I decided to do the same for my kids this year. Joel loved helping mommy decorate his special little tree for his room. I think that he is going to be just as fanatic as mommy is when it comes to decorating the house for Christmas :) Look how proud he is!

A Christmas tradition for as long as I can remember, is receiving the Hallmark Barbie ornament. My grandma would buy them for my sister, cousin and I when we were smaller and I have continued to buy them as I’ve gotten older. I always hoped that someday I would have a little girl to pass them down to and she would love them as much as I have. Her little tree turned out so cute! Her tree skirt is actually a little tutu that a girlfriend of mine made for her, but it doesn’t quite fit her yet so I thought it would make the perfect tree skirt for her pink tree.

Happy decorating!
