He had me in mind

Yesterday was a kind of a rough day as I really had my mom on my mind. I was missing her like crazy just wishing that I could see her with my eyes or touch her and give her a kiss but I was really wanting to hear her voice more than anything. I was thinking about how I will never have another message from her on my cell phone again saying “Hey babe, it’s mom.  Give me a call when you get a second. Love you.” as that was the typical message from her. It still seems so unreal at times that she isn’t here. I know it sounds silly because it was such a gradual loss and not a sudden one, but there are times that I think to myself that she might come walking in the door or it might be her calling when the phone rings. Needless to say, I went to bed last night feeling pretty weighed down.

Tuesday mornings I attend a Bible study at church with a wonderful group of ladies. We are working on Beth Moore’s “Beloved Disciple” which is a study of the life and ministry of the disciple John. If any of you ladies have ever done a Beth Moore study, you know how labor intensive they are. Because of mom’s funeral and all that had been going on in the days leading up to and following, I really got behind on my homework and am still desperately trying to catch up to where the other ladies are. After the day that I had yesterday, I thought that I would just stay home today because I wasn’t caught up on the study, and quite honestly, was in a stinky mood and I didn’t think I should go with such a bad attitude. Praise God that I did! I love that God’s grace is perfectly sufficient. He knows exactly what each of us needs and that leaves me in awe every time. In her video today, Beth spoke particularly of loosing loved ones. She shared a story of one of her closest friends that had lost a young child to an illness and how this friend was filled with God’s grace to make it through. Something that I related to greatly that she spoke of was how people from the outside often look in on a difficult situation and say “I could never handle what you are going through.” The great thing is, we don’t have to handle it. If we trust in Jesus as our Lord, He will fill us with His perfect grace. He ALWAYS meets us in our place of need. Beth also mentioned not believing in coincidences. If you are a believer, there is no such thing as a coincidence, there is only a God thing. You may have wondered about the title and what that has to do with my post. I got up this morning and did not intend to go to Bible study but God said “Oh No! I’ve got something you need to hear!” Even though Beth Moore recorded this video almost 7 years ago, Jesus had me in mind. He knew that what He was going to say through her, I would need on this very day. There is no coincidence in that.

If you don’t mind, I would like to know what is a “God thing” that you have been blessed with lately? I love to see how God is at work! Don’t you?

Many blessings,

Emily
